The Russian government will now be able to reduce the number of paid places in universities

The State Duma finally adopted a bill under which the government will be able to regulate the number of paid places in universities. This was reported on the official website of the lower house of parliament.

According to the project, from September 1, the government will receive the right to approve the list of areas in which you can study for a fee. There will also be a list of specialties, for which you can issue a preferential educational loan. We add that earlier these decisions remained with the leadership of universities.

“Every fourth loan, preferential, with very good conditions, was received in order to study at economic departments, legal, receiving specialties that are practically not in demand today. It is necessary to finance those areas that are in demand. Today, the shortage of personnel in healthcare, in the education system, is extremely important to train specialists of engineering areas, ”commented the chairman of the State Duma Vyacheslav Volodin.

At the same time, deputies claim that they do not plan to reduce the number of students on a paid basis.
