“We have it! Minister of Justice Adam Bodnar has signed a regulation raising the remuneration of judges' assistants. With equalization from 1 January their earnings will be: PLN 6500-8000 for assistants, PLN 8,000-9000 for older assistants,” said on Wednesday on Platform X Director of the Department of Personnel and Military Courts at the Ministry of Justice, Judge Marta Kożuchowska-Wywoda.

The Ministry of Justice reported at the end of March this year that, according to the draft regulation in this case, the lower limit of remuneration of the basic assistant to the judge would increase from 5,000. PLN to 6.5 thousand PLN gross. However, the lowest basic salary of a senior assistant to the judge was to increase with 8,000. PLN up to 9 thousand PLN gross. The ministry explained at the time that the distinction between the rates of remuneration for assistants of judges and older judges' assistants results from the differences in the required qualifications and professional experience in these positions, and the designer found it reasonable to determine the definition of separate rates for both groups.

The ministry emphasized on this occasion that judges' assistants have a key function in the courts. “They are lawyers who undertake under the leadership of a judge's activities in the field of court administration, prepare court cases for examination and draw up projects of ordinances, judgments or their justifications” – noted MS.
