The Minister of Education, Daniel David, said on Wednesday, at a press conference, that he does not support the introduction into the curriculum of a discipline to bear the name “sex education”, reasoning that this subject has become “ideologized” and “can no longer be scientifically controlled”.
The statements were made at a press conference dedicated to the questions of journalists about the QX diagnostic and research report, presented for the first time, May 19th.
Asked if he supports the inclusion of sex education as subject in schools, the minister replied: “I do not support the introduction into the curriculum of a discipline with this name, sexual education, for a simple reason: to ideologized the discussion a lot and any attempt to put it discipline or to wear this name generates discussions that can not be controlled or how to control them.
Daniel David said, however, that students should have access to relevant information, presented in a scientific and devoid of ideological influences:
“An ideologically and very pragmatic, natural, natural sexual education must exist in the curriculum. But those things must be done as learning units, without ideological interference, trapped in biology disciplines and in disciplines that we would have to have the name of education for health.”

The Minister of Education, Daniel David, presented on Monday, May 19, the QX report – an analysis document and reform proposals that synthesize the balance of his technocrat, started in December 2024, in the context of a political and economic crisis.
The document offers a diagnosis of structural problems – from functional illiteracy and inequalities between schools, to research without impact – and proposes long -term reform directions, such as a new philosophy of evaluation of the students, modifying the criteria for the title of the teachers, the restructuring of the curriculum, the taxation of the meditation and the real support for the students.
