The Minister of Education, Daniel David, spoke again about the meditations that some of the students benefit from, showing himself a supporter of training in particular, provided that this is regulated, informs news.ro.

“I am a supporter of well -regulated meditations. Of course it seems like a truism, but it does not make sense to hide them, if we hide them, they will happen anyway, by means that we do not control. What would be to recognize, there are in other systems, but let's regulate them in a fiscal aspect, and in the aspect of the conflict, because there are not the children, because there is no more to do the children. The question is: When do you do during the eight hours when you should be in class?

He said that meditations should be allowed to work, but by protecting children and the public education system.

What is the current legislative framework

The teachers are not allowed to do meditations with the students they have in the class, it is shown in the new framework regulation of organization and functioning of the pre-leveling educational units (Rofuip), which was published in the Official Gazette, in August 2024. The rule is not new and appears in the new Law of Education, which entered into force from September 2023.

The regulation for the organization and functioning of the schools provides that “the teaching staff in pre -university education is forbidden to carry out additional training/ meditations with the primary beneficiaries from the class/ classes to which it is classified in the current school year, according to the procedure for completing the state staff, education ”.

Moreover, in the new law of pre -university education education, 198/2023, it is stipulated that offering meditations to students in the classroom represents a disciplinary deviation for teachers who do it.

  • “It represents disciplinary deviations of the teaching staff and are sanctioned according to art. 210, if they are not committed in such conditions that, according to the criminal law, they constitute a crime:

d) the activity of conducting meditations with students from their own class ”.

Meditations with students in the classroom are forbidden for teachers for many years. In October 2018, the rule was provided in the Ethics Code of teaching staff in pre -university education. Currently, teachers who obtain individually revenues from meditations are obliged to register with the Trade Register and to request the authorization of the operation.
