What the Reuters International Agency writes about the Romanian poll:

The Romanians vote on Sunday in the second round of the presidential elections, which oppose a Eurosceptic to the radical right to an independent center, and the result could have implications for both the country's difficulty economy and for the EU unit.

The 38-year-old far-right nationalist George Simion, who opposes the military aid for the neighboring Ukraine and criticizes the leadership of the European Union, has clearly won the first round of the presidential elections, causing the collapse of a pro-Western coalition government. This has led to significant capital exits.

The mayor of Bucharest, Nicușor Dan, 55, who has committed to fight corruption, is firmly pro-EU and NATO and said that Romania's support for Ukraine is vital for its own security against a rising threat.

The President this is the state of the EU and NATO has considerable powers, not least being at the head of the Defense Council that decides on military aid. It will also supervise the foreign policy, having the right of veto to the EU votes that require unanimity.

Anyone who will be chosen will also have to designate a prime minister to negotiate a new majority in the Parliament to reduce the budget deficit of Romania -the largest in the EU -as well as to calm the investors and try to avoid lowering the credit rating.
