Ștefan Bănică said on Friday that he voted “every time in the last 35 years” and will do so on Sunday, in the second round of the presidential elections, in which he says he will opt for the independent candidate Nicușor Dan.

The artist believes that it is a duty to vote.

“As a citizen, I have a duty to vote. And so I did every time in the last 35 years, even though I have often been disappointed with the choices I have made, trying to choose between a bigger and smaller evil. Probably, like many of you. And that's why I understand the distrust that many Romanians have on Facebook,”

He said that over the years he “pulled an alarm” when he “considered it necessary”.

“As an artist and as a public person, I drew an alarm signal, over these years, in concerts, through the messages of some of my songs, when I considered it necessary, especially regarding the deficiencies in the educational system and the elections we make in the society in which we live,” added the singer.

Ștefan Bănică described the moment as a “crucial” one for the country.

“Now, at a crucial moment for Romania, I will not vote on Sunday aggression, inculturation, lack of consistency in statements and political alliances, theft from television debates in front of voters, the use of the facade of religion and faith in God. The only solution, for me, in this count, is not to choose from Romania. Reasons, I can make the difference on Sunday!
