Libra Bank would have notified the National Office for Money Laundering (ONPCSB) about “suspicious transactions” of gold – donations received from people without enough money, but also amounts that would have been paid by gold to a company related to Maricel Păcuraru, the owner of the post Realitatea Plus, according to Ecnomedia information.
Libra Bank would have asked Marius Lulea to declare the source of wealth based on Law 129 of 2019 to prevent and combat money laundering, given that it has a leadership function in a party, and the law requires banks to establish the source of wealth and the source of the funds that have such a publicly exposed person.
It should be noted that Marius Lulea, although he is a first vice-president of gold and one of the most important party leaders, did not apply for any public position. For this reason, he never had to make his statement of wealth and interests.
Because Lulea did not provide the information required by the bank, Libra Bank would have blocked her accounts in early April, according to the same sources. At the end of April, Marius Lulea closed his business relationship with Libra Bank.
The bank would also have blocked the gold accounts in March because of Marius Lulea's refusal to specify the source of wealth and funds on the grounds that he is empowered, with the right of signature, on the accounts held by the party, according to the sources cited. In April, Libra Bank would have blocked the accounts of three companies to which Marius Lulea is associated, according to Economy information.
Libra Bank later sent, at the request “Adevărul”: “Libra Internet Bank has a special respect for all representatives of the political class in Romania, inclusive For Mr. Marius Lulea, The first vice-president of Gold.
