An installation from recycled cables transforms the Unirii Square. Marlene Herberth: “A connection between the urban landscape and the memory of humanity”

The first week a Romanian Creative Weekthe largest festival dedicated to the creative industries in the European Union and a strategic cultural event designated by the Ministry of Culture, proposes to the public a diverse cultural experience, which brings together daring and for the first time. The Unirii Square houses an innovative installation, made of technological waste that acquires the form of a cross -seal Dom, while the emblematic locations in Iași, such as the Metropolitan Museum and the Palace of Culture, become effervescent centers of contemporary creation.
The famous artist Miron Schmückle, established in Germany, returns after years in Romania with an impressive selection of works, which explore the elegance of botanical nature and the philosophical potential of flowers. For more than two decades, Schmückle paints flowers, with the precision of a miniaturist and the attention of a botanical researcher, and offers a spectacular foray into his lush visual universe, marked by fantastic botanical and refined symbolism.
“I invited the public to reflect on the messages I send through my works. I called them to introspection and I encourage them to visit the exhibition throughout the festival. It is an invitation to a critical look at our own positioning, at a lucid distance from the centrism and conformism that constantly surrounds us. Moreover, it is an exhortation to meditation on reality that envelops us, on what is happening around, but also within us“, He said Miron Schmücklethe artist who signs the exhibition “Cosmic Attractors”.
Among the news of this edition are the first ceramic exhibition in the history of the festival, a premiere that combines tradition with innovation in a subtle, but deep visual discourse.
The exhibition “Lut – Contemporary Ceramics”, curated by Caterina Pruteanu, was received with public enthusiasm, appreciated for the refinement of the expression and for the way in which she reinterprets an ancestral craft in contemporary key.
More than 25 artists expose their works around the “Garden of Eden”, an installation under the artesian fountain in the courtyard of the Metropolitan Cathedral “Meeting the Lord”, signed by the architect Carina Lăcătușu.

Also, the exhibition “120 steps to white” smells the work of four artists from the country and an artist from Iran within the International Ceramic Symposium. “The exhibition at the Golia Tower, organized in a sacred and special space, represents the manifestation of the personal vision of each artist, combining the strength and complexity. I invited the audience to reflection and a closer look at my own self and seemed very pleased to discover what I have prepared”, He noted The curator of the exhibition, Ionela-Sandrina Mihuleac.
In the Arts section of Romanian Creative Week, there are also the unique exhibitions “Für Papier und Orchester”, the work of the artists Emilian Pospaii and Nicoleta Radu, and “Suspensions”, an exhibition with the works of Florin Stefan. The exhibition “Für Papier und Ochester” presents a visual documentation of the paper production processes and a demonstration of its potential as an art object, and the public has the opportunity to notice how the traditional support, the paper, reverses its role, becoming the subject and the central material of the exposure. Within the exhibition of the painter Florin Stefan, the Iasi stepped into a space that investigates the dynamic negotiation between faith and skepticism, purpose and process, personal narrative and collective meeting. In each work, the public has to discover the act of creation, which is always suspended between instinct and structure.
In the Unirii Square, the installation “Manifest of Now: Geology of Possibilities”, signed by artist Anetta Mona Chișa, in collaboration with the blacksmith Thomas Fink and curated by Marlene Herbeth, is made of waste electric cables offered by Greenweee. The work acquires the form of a cross -seal Dom, transforming the technological waste into architectural poetry and inviting the public to a reflection on consumption, collective memory and traces left over time.
“The installation connects the urban landscape and the memory of humanity, in an almost impressive gesture that brings to the surface the traces left by our existence. The public enters an organic construction, similar to a maze of electrical cables, an invisible infrastructure of daily life. It is a route that obliges the viewer to observe, perhaps for the first time, the digital matter that envelops us, model us and often passes unobserved“, He explains Marlene Herberth, the curator of the exhibition.
The music and theater completed the picture of the creative expressions presented in this year's anniversary edition. The spontaneous concerts, full of energy from Heartbeat Pavilion and the shows with spectacular scenographies signed by Adrian Damian, one of the most appreciated scenographers of the moment, add intensity to the cultural experience experienced by the public.
In fact, Adrian Damian is in the foreground of the theater section of the Act Festival-Arthouse Cinema & Theater, and the song “Not understanding”, directed by Mihai Măniuțiu, impresses the public both by message and by design. Damian is recognized for his originality, signing over 90 scenographies in theaters in Romania and abroad and being distinguished with numerous UNITER and International Awards.
“The public is invited to participate in three very differently aesthetically different and stylistic shows, and in an installation that, I hope, cause people to focus more on the beautiful things in life, what we like, what we love, we love“, He said Scenograph Adrian Damian.
The Education section within the RCW, supported by Banca Transilvania and Jidvei, hosted a new conference in the Senate Hall of the “Alexandru Ioan Cuza” University of Iași. The students had free access to the event entitled “The culture of the dialogue”, supported by the theologian Vasile Bănescu, the teachers Nicu Gavriluță and Alexandru Călinescu, as well as by the journalist Cătălin Hopula, editor-in-chief Ziarul de Iași. Starting from the central theme of dialogue, the guests explored, from complementary perspectives, the role of exchange ideas in a cultural democratic and healthy society. The meeting was a living and consistent one, marking a real and deep dialogue between speakers and public.
