The Polish presidency will not have too much time to work on the Union of capital markets, because the project announced for the first quarter regarding the revival of the European Securitization Market will be finally presented by the EC in mid -June – Minister of Finance Andrzej Domański said on Tuesday in Brussels.

Domański reminded that work on securitization was the priority of Polish presidency in the EU Council. It is about increasing the possibility of combining assets such as mortgage loans and other receivables to sell them to investors in the form of securities. This is to be assumed to help release capital by increasing the creditworthiness of European banks.
A review of EU law in this respect the European Commission announced for the first quarter of 2025 the chairmanship in the EU Council Poland could then accelerate work among the member states. On July 1, Denmark will take over the presidency.
When asked if he sees other possibilities to accelerate the construction of the Union of Savings and Investment, from which the EC he hopes to finance, among others Defense expenses, Domański appealed to focus on securitization first.
“This is a project that we are waiting for quite a long time. First, we waited that it will be presented in the first quarter, then at the beginning of April. Now it looks like it will be presented in mid -June, so to be honest, there will not be too much time for the Polish presidency to work on it” – he said.
He added that “we would like to see an ambitious proposal.” “I am of the opinion that this is not a panacea. It will not protect us from all problems with our capital markets, but this is an important step in the right direction. Therefore, we encourage the EC to present this proposal,” he said.
Domański, in connection with the Polish presidency, presided over the meeting of EU finance ministers in Brussels.
