Nicușor Dan considers that Romania's participation in Ukraine's reconstruction represents an “economic opportunity”

Nicușor Dan states that investments in the field of defense must continue and that it is fair for Romania to be involved in the process of reconstruction of Ukraine, following the support given to Kiev by our country in the war with Russia. The independent candidate for the presidency also says that Romania must play an active role in the European Union.

Nicușor Dan was asked during the debate from Antena 3 CNN, which position will adopt in relation to the situation in Ukraine.

“Do I think few of us have made the scenario in which Ukraine is capable. Obviously, all Romanians want peace, but let's see if it is better than us, along with all the EU countries, to invest in the army now to discourage a war or such as Russia to be our neighbor and of the Republic of Moldova?

It is in the interest of Romania, beyond the fact that we had 80 years peace and prosperity because there were some international treaties that Russia has now violated, it is the categorical interest of Romania to end for the Ukrainian part. Romania must continue to support Ukraine, in accordance with European and US partners, ”explained Dan.

Nicușor Dan believes that he is “fair” for the countries that contributed in the interest of Ukraine in the war with Russia to participate in the reconstruction of Ukraine, being “an economic opportunity for Romania”.

“When the question of Ukraine's reconstruction is raised, I think it is fair to all countries that have helped Ukraine to contribute to their companies to participate equitably, in proportion to this contribution. It will be an economic opportunity for Romania,” explained the mayor of the Capital.

In the same debate, the candidate was asked about the relationship with the United States, Nicușor Dan saying that the doubts of the Americans about the annulment of the elections must be clarified. He also says that the role of Romania in the European Union must be active.

“The relationship with the US is very important, an additional security guarantee compared to NATO membership. The strategic partnership also gives some advantages to the American party. Yes, we have to strengthen this partnership.

As for the EU, it is a good thing that we are there, it is a certain advantage of money, reform. We were not too active there and people are rightly disturbed that we did not have the diplomatic pressures to enter Schengen faster. We must feel that we are part of the decision there ”, concluded Nicușor Dan.
