The data, published by the index of the perception of democracy 2025, summarizes the attitudes towards democracy, geopolitics and the great global powers and has probed over 110,000 respondents from 100 countries, writes Politico.

Most of the people surveyed had a generally negative perception of the US, marking a accentuated decline compared to last year. America's reputation has suffered a very big blow in the EU countries – perhaps at all surprising, given that US President Donald Trump called the block “horrible”, “Jalnic” and “Formed to deceive the United States.”

Anders Fogh Rasmussen, former head of NATO and founder of the Democrats Alliance Foundation, who co -author said that it is not “Surprised that perceptions about the United States have dropped so suddenly.”

China became more popular than the US

Meanwhile, China has continued to improve its position globally, exceeding the US for the first time and registering largely positive perceptions in all regions, except for Europe. Russia, whose reputation collapsed following the large -scale invasion of Ukraine by President Vladimir Putin in 2022, is still (easily) more unpopular than the US – although its image is improving.

Trump lost the popularity contest

Trump has recorded the weakest score of a series of political, cultural and spiritual leaders that include owner X Elon Musk, founder Microsoft Bill Gates, regretted Pope Francis, Taylor Swift and Kim Kardashian.

Israel came to light as the country with the worst global reputation between those included in the survey, especially in the Middle East and South Asia. Israel is unpopular even in the European countries that have been historically allied, such as Germany, signaling an increasing discomfort than the behavior of his government in Gaza and the West Bank.

Last year, the International Criminal Court (CPI) issued arrest warrants on behalf of Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu and former Defense Minister Yoav Gallant for alleged war crimes.
