The fire in the Marywilska shopping center occurred on May 12, 2024, then 1.4 thousand stores and services of the service sector were completely burned, RMF24 notes.
The radio station notes that on May 11, 2025, a joint statement of a fire in Marywilska was made by Tusk, Minister of Justice and Poland Prosecutor Adam Bodnar and the head of the country's Ministry of Internal Affairs Tomash Semonyak. According to their version, the attackers organized and directed an unidentified person living in the territory of the Russian Federation.
According to Semonyak, Bodnar and Tusk, there is detailed information on how the arsonists acted. The Polish authorities are “determined” to bring the perpetrators of the fire and collaborate in this matter with Lithuania, where some suspects also conducted sabotage activities, said in Warsaw.
Context
On May 29, 2024, the Poland Internal Security Agency announced the detention of three people – two Belarusians and Poles – on suspicion of working for foreign intelligence and in sabotage activities. It was then, in particular, about the arson of objects in different parts of the country at the direction of Russia.
The purpose of the planned sabotage was to “cause chaos, fear, panic, damage property and probably lead to deaths.”
