Donald Trump in the Middle East. “Gesture of good will”
The Times of Israel portal previously announced that pressure was exerted on Hamas to release an American hostage without any additional conditions as a gesture of good will against US President Donald Trump, who on Tuesday begins a journey through the Middle East.
Trump said he was hoping that the release of the American would be the beginning of the end of the war in the Middle East. “It was a step taken in good faith towards the United States and mediators' efforts – runny nose and Egypt – in order to end this very brutal war and return all living hostages and the remains of their loved ones. I hope that this is the first of these final steps necessary to end this brutal conflict. I am looking forward to this day of celebration!” Donald Trump said.
Hamas declarations also give hope for the end of the conflict. “We confirm our readiness to immediately start intensive negotiations and make serious efforts to the final agreement ending the war,” wrote one of the leaders of Hamas Chalil Al-Haija in a statement. He added that Qatar, Egypt and Türkiye took part in talks about the release of the American hostage.
