Birch
As can be seen from the name of the holiday, in Rus' this day was dedicated to birch juice. They began to collect and harvest it for the future.
It was believed that the most delicious and healing juice flows in the upper branches of the tree, and they can cure any patient. However, it was not recommended to harvest juice on a foggy or rainy day – there was little benefit from such a drink.
From that day on, they began to drink patients who suffer from spring fever. In Rus', it was believed that birch juice can help with scurvy, edema, furunculosis, arthritis, gout. They used it as a diuretic.
They watched the weather on this day: the clear sunrise of the sun – to the clear summer. If the night is warm and starry, it promises a good harvest. There was such an unusual sign for the crop: on this day it was necessary to dine as tightly as possible – and then the beds and arable land would be fertile.
