The Ministry of the Interior and Administration emphasizes that the decision to open these crossings on November 17 was possible after sealing the border where attempts to illegally enter Poland are being made on a massive scale. It was undertaken, among others, after consultation with local authorities and entrepreneurs from the Podlaskie Voivodeship, who have long demanded that at least one road border crossing in the region be opened to traffic.

During a meeting with the governor of the Rostov Oblast in Russia, Yuri Slusar, Alexander Lukashenko attacked the actions of Poland and the Baltic countries.

— Life will force Poland and the Baltic countries to build normal relations with Belarus and Russia. Lithuanians are squealing and screaming now: open the border. We didn't close it. And we have never treated Poles, Lithuanians or Latvians badly. These are our neighbors, what will you do here? Yes, they are externally managed today. Other people will come to power and will see business in Belarus and Russia, as it was before, said Lukashenko, quoted by the Belta agency.
