As the villa in Bucharest is sold where one of the most appreciated lawyers has lived since the beginning of the 20th century

A magnificent house in the center of the capital and with a special story was put up for sale through the Romanian branch of Sotheby's, the best -known auction house on the planet. The house belonged to one of the greatest Romanian lawyers, bearing the signature of the architect Radu Culcer.

The house, located on Carol I Boulevard in Bucharest, has 22 rooms, 3 bathrooms and a total area of ​​1,065 square meters. The requested price is 1.4 million euros.

Initially the residence of the reputed lawyer and law professor Mihail Pașcanu, the house, which is a true architectural jewel, has traveled a change of changes. During the interwar period he hosted the headquarters of the Turkish Embassy, ​​and after nationalization was adapted to the new social framework and housed the house of unions. Since 1954, the social and economic conditions of the time have determined its transformation into a collective housing building with the fragmentation of the building into several apartments.

Today, the area of ​​over 1,000 square meters of the building and arranged on four levels comprises the space of creative activities – architecture, decorative art, painting and series, theater, music. In the courtyard of the house, the atmosphere of stage shows, projections, artisan fairs and musical evenings.

One of the most appreciated Romanian lawyers from the beginning of the 20th century, Mihai Pașcanu was born in 1879 in Bucharest, graduating the Faculty of Law in the Capital in 1902 and then taking his doctorate in Sorbonne, in Paris, in 1907.

He was, among other things, a lawyer of the Rural Credit Society, lecturer at the Department of Commercial Law at the University of Bucharest (1912-1926), professor at the Comparative and Maritime Commercial Law Department of the University of Bucharest (1926-1927) and professor of commercial legislation at the Academy of High Studies

Mihail Pașcanu was the author of a university manual about the exchange (manual of Romanian Cambial Law, 1923) and of a monograph on bankruptcy (Romanian bankruptcy with the legislation of the territories, 1927). He left two volumes of a university course (commercial law, according to the notes of stenography, lithograph, taught in 1923-1924). He has published several studies and works on commercial and economic legislation. He died out of life in 1927.
