“They are not prepared for immediate negotiations. The negotiations for cessation of fire were supported by the president [Rusiei, Vladimir] Putin, but he asked some questions, ”” Peskov said, according to News.ro.
For now, “The Russian troops submit with enough firmness ”, he added.
He stressed that weapons deliveries of the United States and Europe to Ukraine must cease to be able to conclude an armistice.
Dmitri Peskov said that it is necessary for Russian President Vladimir Putin to see “certain dynamics” on the battlefield before agreeing to an extended armistice, insisting that weapons from Ukraine Allies should stop before there is a break in hostilities.
“Otherwise, it will be an advantage for Ukraine. Ukraine will continue to mobilize total, bringing new troops on the front line. Ukraine will use this period to train new military personnel and take a break to others. So why would we give such an advantage of Ukraine?” Peskov said.

“President Putin does everything possible to solve the problem, to reach a settlement by peaceful and diplomatic means. But, given that there are no peace and democratic means, we must continue the military operation,” he said.

States such as the United Kingdom, France and Nordic countries have already announced the support of an unconditional armistice for 30 days, advanced by US President Donald Trump.
The President of France, Emmanuel Macron, proposed on Friday, May 9, a common American-European plan to establish a 30-day armistice in the Ukraine war.
