Compliance with the cessation of fire for 30 days proposed on Saturday in Kiev by Ukraine and its allies will be controlled by the United States with a European contribution, announced French President Emmanuel Macron, according to AFP, DPA, Reuters and Agerpres.
The countries participating in the “Volunteers' Coalition” have decided “to support a 30-day fire cease with a supervision provided by the United States and to which all Europeans will contribute,” said the French head of a common press conference with leaders in Ukraine, Germany, Poland and the United Kingdom.
He threatened Russia with “massive and coordinated” sanctions by Europe and the US if Moscow “violates” the cessation of fire for 30 days that Kiev allies have proposed, starting May 12.
“In case of violation of this cessation of fire, we agreed to be prepared and coordinated between Europeans and Americans,” Macron explained.

British Prime Minister Keir Starmer wanted to greet the “absolute unit” between the US, Europeans and Ukraine in relation to the proposal to cease full fire for 30 days, addressed to Russia.
“The position we arrived today is an absolute unit between a whole series of countries in the world, including the US, on the need for an unconditional fire for 30 days,” Starmer said in the same press conference.
For his part, Polish Prime Minister Donald Tusk highlighted the unity of the Western Alliance in his effort to end the conflict started in Ukraine over three years ago.
“For the first time after a long time we feel that the whole free world is truly united,” Tusk said. He emphasized that the European fire cessation proposal for 30 days in Ukraine has the support of US President Donald Trump.
“If Russia rejects this initiative, there will be no doubt about who supports peace and who supports the war,” said the head of the Polish executive.
