While the European leaders of the “will of the will” were discussing in Kiev with President Zelenski about the proposals for the armistice and then peace in Ukraine, the President of France Emmanuel Macron decided to call Donald Trump, although Washington was not even 7 in the morning, writes Politico, quoted by News.ro.

During the three -hour discussion of Zelenski's Mariinski Palace, Macron took him to call Trump on his mobile phone and inform him with the other leaders about discussions. Trump took the call, even though he was still before 7 o'clock in Washington, and agreed to support European applications, according to two officials with this issue.

The cessation of the proposed fire will have “a monitoring provided mainly by the United States and to which all Europeans will contribute,” Macron later said.

German Chancellor Friedrich Merz said in the Kiev joint press conference: “We are grateful that the US president fully supports our initiative.” He later added, in separate comments for German reporters, that “there is a commitment from the US government to monitor a cessation of fire.”

Two European officials present in Kiev appreciated the result of the meeting as a great success, especially since leaders managed to involve Trump and obtain his support, even though one of the officials warned that the US president tends to quickly change his opinion.

Merz said the leaders of several other countries-from Canada to Turkey and New Zealand-joined the Kiev Meeting through video conference and supports efforts to put pressure on Putin.

“A great coalition of will from all over the world is determined to apply” new sanctions against Russia if Moscow refuses to accept the cessation of fire, “the German Chancellor assured.
