The President of the United States Donald Trump announced on Thursday the signing of the trade agreement by the US and Great Britain. According to Trump, this agreement is “historical” and opens British markets to many American products.

The US leader emphasized that the agreement with Great Britain is a “significant breakthrough”, which took place on the 80th anniversary of the Allied victory over Nazi Germany in 1945.
He noted that the contract includes the opening of Great Britain to many American products, worth “many billion dollars”, “in particular to American beef, ethanol and virtually all products produced by our (American) beloved farmers.”
“Agreement with Great Britain will seal our friendship,” Trump declared earlier on Thursday on the Truth Social portal, before signing the contract, and noted that “it will seal relations between the United States and Great Britain for many years.”
Great Britain is the first country to sign a trade agreement from the USA, since in April the Trump administration has introduced new duties on imported goods.
As the Reuters agency writes, the British government assured that as part of this agreement, American duties on the British car industry would be immediately reduced from 27.5 percent. up to 10 percent, while duties on steel and aluminum – reduced to zero.
In turn, US minister Howard Lutnick announced that the basic US duties in the amount of 10 percent would remain in force. for other British goods. London agreed to lower his duties from 5.1 percent. up to 1.8 percent and provide greater access to American goods.
According to Lutnik, British companies will now be able to export parts of aircraft to the United States without customs, in return the British aviation industry is to buy Boeing aircraft for $ 10 billion.
The satisfaction of signing the contract was also expressed by the British Prime Minister Keir Starmer, who stated that the contract would increase the value of trade between the two countries and create jobs. He also added that it was impossible to imagine a better moment to conclude this agreement.
“This is a really important contract. It will increase trade between our countries. It will not only protect jobs, but create it, opening access to the market. It's a really fantastic, historical day,” said Starmer during a teleconference with Trump. (PAP)
