“Termówers can easily start the weekend. 19 consecutive M1A2SEPV3 Abrams tanks already in Poland. They will soon enter the armament of the army,” writes on the platform X Paweł Bejda, Secretary of State at the Ministry of National Defense.
This delivery is the result of the order from April 2022 on 250 Abrams tanks, and the value of the order was then given to over PLN 20 billion.
116 tanks in the older version from the second half of the 1980s in the M1A1 variant based on a separate contract has already reached Poland by mid -2024. Now the most modern vehicles are successively delivered.
In January we wrote that the first 28 copies of the M1A2SEPV3 version arrived. Now another 19 joins them, so we will have 47 such tanks and 116 in the older version.
On the current battlefield, tanks are exposed to attacks of relatively cheap drones. “Now ordering the Israeli active protection system of Throphy” – comments the minister's message one of the Internet users. This “hard-kill” system designed to protect armored vehicles against anti-tank missiles. It works on the basis of detecting and combating ongoing threats, using kinetic shells that destroy enemy shells at a distance of 10 to 30 meters from the vehicle.
