The Kremlin said on Wednesday that Ukrainian drone attacks on Moscow, the 80th anniversary of the victory of the Soviet Union over Nazi Germany, demonstrates Kiev's tendency to commit “acts of terrorism,” Reuters reports. Russia has launched an attack on the Ukrainian capital on the same day, soldier with two dead, a woman and her son, according to officials.

The Russian air defense forces brought down 14 Ukrainian drones on Wednesday, the mayor said, while Kiev targeted the Russian capital for the third consecutive day.

The drones forced the closure of most airports in the Russian capital a few hours before the arrival of Chinese President Xi Jinping, a visit to which Kiev clearly expressed his opposition.

In a telephone conversation with reporters, the Kremlin spokesman, Dmitri Peskov, said: “The Kiev regime continues to demonstrate his essence, his inclination towards terrorist acts.”

Peskov said that Russia is doing everything possible to ensure security in the days of commemoration, in which world leaders, including Brazil and China presidents, will participate.

The central event – a military parade in the Red Square in Moscow – will take place on Friday.

“Our intelligence services and our army take all the necessary measures to ensure the celebration of the Great Victory in a calm, stable and peaceful climate,” said Peskov.

Asked how Russia will respond to the attempts of drone attacks, Peskov said that Russia's proposal on a three -day armistice with Ukraine during the holidays is still in force.

The Kremlin said he would respect the armistice, but that he will respond if Ukraine would attack.

Ukrainian President Volodimir Zelenski qualified the proposal to cease fire as unnecessary and proposed an cease of unconditional fire for at least 30 days, in accordance with the US proposal launched in March.

Ukrainian officials said on Wednesday that Russia has launched an intense attack with drones and rockets on Kiev and other Ukrainian cities during the night, killing a mother and her son in the capital of Ukraine.

At least seven people, including four children, were injured in attacks, said Volodimir Zelenski, adding that Russia has launched four ballistic missiles and 142 drones on Kiev and five other regions.
