The head of the PiS club Mariusz Błaszczak announced on Monday that Law and Justice submitted a draft amendment to the Act on Polish citizenship in the Sejm. The project involves extending the time needed to foreigners to receive citizenship to at least 10 years.


Blaszczak during the Monday conference in Lublin announced that the PiS club would demand that the Sejm take care of the project at the next meeting. It is – he reserved – the response to migration risks. “Illegal migrants should be deported from our country. Legal migrants who commit crimes should also be deported from Poland” – added the politician.
As he emphasized, The project provides for extending the minimum time after which a foreigner could apply for Polish citizenship from 3 to 10 years. After this time – he supplemented – people who work and integrate will be able to receive Polish citizenship. In his opinion, so much minimum time for foreigners to be integrated with Polish culture.

PiS MP Michał Moskal reported that he expected from the Speaker of the Sejm and the majority of the ruling “procedure” of the project as soon as possible. During the conference, he cited police statistics, which – as he said – shows that in 2023-2024 the number of crimes committed by foreigners in Lublin increased from 260 to 470, i.e. by over 81 percent. A significant part of crimes – he added – was made by people from Ukraine.
According to data from the Municipal Police Headquarters in Lublin in 2024, over 9,000 were found in the city and the Lublin poviat. crimes, which means that crimes committed by foreigners accounted for about 5 percent.
Police statistics also show that for 219 crimes committed by foreigners last year. One person corresponds to the bank account. In the years 2022-2023, foreigners were responsible for 220-260 cases of crimes in the Lublin CM (PAP)
