“Large attack” and the relocation of the “majority” of the Palestinians in the Gaza strip: the Israeli army clearly says what the total “conquest” of the enclosure implies

The new military campaign in the Gaza strip announced on Monday will require the “majority” of the Palestinians in this territory, the EFFI Defin brigade general, the spokesman of the Israeli army announced, according to AFP.

“The operation includes a large -scale attack (and) the movement of the majority of the population in the Gaza strip” outside the battle areas, said the Israeli military manager.

The Gaza strip, from where almost all the inhabitants have already been relocated several times since the beginning of the war almost 19 months ago, is subjected to a total blockade by Israel for more than two months, notes Agerpres.

The Israeli security office approved an extension of the military operations regarding the total “conquest” of the Gaza strip, after the authorities ordered the mobilization of tens of thousands of reservists for this offensive, an official source said on Monday.

The decision intervenes at a time when the United Nations (UN) does not cease to draw alarm signals on a humanitarian catastrophe and the risk of hunger to which about 2.4 million Palestinians are exposed.

The Israeli army resumed its bombing and offensive in the Gaza strip on March 18, ending a two-month armistice with the Palestinian Islamist Movement in the war triggered by the unprecedented attack of the Palestinian Islamist Movement on South Israel on October 7, 2023.

About 1,200 people were killed that day and over 250 Israelis were taken hostage and taken to the Palestinian enclave.

In contrast, the number of Palestinians killed during the war triggered by Israel in the Gaza strip exceeded 50,000.

Israel resumed the terrestrial operations in Gaza in March, after the collapse of an armistice supported by the US, which stopped the fights for two months.

The security office has also approved a new aid distribution plan in Gaza, Israeli Ynet news site reported on Monday, although it is unclear when the supplies in the enclave will be allowed.

Israel controls about one third of the Gaza strip and has been facing increasing international pressure to raise the blockade in March in terms of humanitarian aid.

The Israeli side defended his decision to establish a blockade, accusing Hamas of confiscated the aid for civilians and kept them for his own fighters or sold them, accusations that the Palestinian militant group denies.
