George Simion reported, at Digi24, as he knew Nicușor Dan, whom he held in the campaign for the City Hall of 2012, the gold leader saying that, at that time, he stuck posters for his current counter -candidate.

“I think I participated in the future man Pol Nicușor Dan,” said George Simion, when he was invited to comment on older images in which he appeared with his current opponent from the presidential elections.

Simion said that, at the time of his student, he was involved in various civic campaigns, and at one point, he was also involved in the issue of the architectural heritage of Bucharest, in the context of the then mayor, Adriean Videanu, intended to allow blocks in the revolution market.

“It was a group of Yahoo-at that time they were fashionable, the Civic Group Bucharest, but not too organized. I, with my friends I proposed Nicușor Dan, as a good figure to start the steps (…) I supported him in the campaign as an independent in 2012 and I stuck posters. He took 9%.”

Asked if he also considers Nicușor Dan now, Simion replied: “I don't know, there are some question marks now.”

The leader of Gold said that, at the moment when Dan founded the Union Save Bucharest, which was to be the basis of the current USR, he was interested in this party, but then there appeared “people who had not seen them in the civic movement for different causes.”

He invoked that there were people “from Cioloș”, mentioning Dan Barna and Cristian Ghinea. “Since then, my confidence in Nicușor Dan and his integrity has been broken,” said George Simion.

Asked if he has ever received “Sorosist funds” in his activity in the civic environment, Simion denied. “Neither did the problem ever be. With one observation: a distinguished lady asked me if I do not want money from Soros. I said: Madam, I do not think there are financing lines for what we do, unionist, nationalist actions. I am not on the GOOD of the NGOs for an open society. Some attack us in this campaign,” George said.
