The US government reacted to the decision of the German Office for the Protection of the Constitution on the recognition of the AfD as an extremist organization only a few hours after it was made public. “Tyranies in disguise” – this is what the Step of German internal services Marco Rubio. Thus, he became the third – after the vice president of JD Vance and the leading adviser of Donald Trump Elon Musk – a high -ranking representative of the American administration, who He expressed fundamental criticism towards Germany.
For the new federal government, which will take the office on Tuesday, on May 6, it means a serious problem. The United States has become not only an unpredictable, and thus a difficult partner, but also obsession with Germany in the Trump camp is growing and now reached Rubio, which was until now considered a traditionalist in the matter of foreign policy.
When in February the US Vice President JD Vance devoted his speech in Munich with a sharp criticism of European democracy, it caused a great stir. It was clear to everyone that Donald Trump sits in the oval office, who complains about the uneven burden on transatlantic relations and would demand changes in this area. However, the fact that the new authorities in Washington question the values that have been under the basis of relations for decades was a shock.

Obsession with Germany
The following weeks showed that it was not an isolated case, but that in Trump's camp, obsession with Germany is growing. In addition to Vance, the leading adviser of Trump, Elon Musk, was also involved in the German internal policy. Before the Bundestag election, he aggressively agitated to vote for AfD, claiming that “only she can save Germany.”
Vance condemned two alleged irregularities in the country. The first is AFD proceedings, which he criticized again on Friday. “AfD is the most popular party in Germany,” he commented on X. “Now bureaucrats are trying to destroy it,” he said. According to Vance, the second issue is to limit freedom of speech. He repeatedly criticized the prosecution of hate crimes on the Internet.
In Vance's opinion, both of these issues will have consequences for German-American relations. – Do you think that an American taxpayer will accept that someone in Germany will go to prison only for publishing a malicious tweet? Rubio achieved a promotion that was not obvious at all. His nomination for the position of secretary of state was salt in the eye of many isolationist supporters of the magician from the beginning.
