There are many indications that one of the largest burglaries in the history of German forensics in terms of the value of loot occurred. The event even exceeded the famous “heist of the century” in 2013 in Berlin, the perpetrators of which dug a tunnel approximately 45 m long and stole loot worth approximately EUR 10 million. In Gelsenkirchen, thieves got into a bank vault through a hole, probably made using a drill.

As reported by the T-Online portal, on Monday morning a fire alarm sounded in a bank in the northern district of the city. However, after arriving at the site, the services did not see any fire or smoke. A search of the building revealed a large hole in the wall of the safe deposit box room. Almost all of them had been broken into, and the floor was covered with piles of objects and documents taken from the cabinets.

New information about the burglary emerged on Tuesday. It turned out that the thieves got into almost 95 percent. caches, i.e. up to approx. 3.2 thousand and stole approximately EUR 30 million, although the exact amount has not been announced yet. This puts Monday's burglary at the forefront of similar events in Germany.
The situation was inflamed by the behavior of the bank's customers who gathered in front of the building on Tuesday morning. They demanded information about their valuables and money. There was a commotion, people shouted: “We want to come in!” – informs T-Online. Several people even broke into the bank's vestibule, bypassing the security staff.
According to “Bild”, a total of 2.7 thousand people rent lockers there. customers, and each individual locker is insured for a maximum of EUR 10,300. Talks with the insurance company are ongoing. The facility in Gelsenkirchen is closed for now. The police still haven't found the trail of the burglars.
