The president noted that it is difficult to achieve even the first step – the ceasefire.
“Imagine everything, they understand, the issue of territories, sanctions – how difficult it will be. And therefore there are such signals that, probably, after they agree on Ceasesefire, some countries will want the Russians and I are left alone. These are such signals,” he said.
At the same time, the president expressed confidence that Europe would remain close to Ukraine.

On April 18, US Secretary of State Marco Rubio said that the United States may stop attempts to reach a peace agreement between Russia and Ukraine if there are no clear signs of its conclusion.
CNN, citing a familiar source, wrote that Rubio handed over the position of US President Donald Trump. The interlocutor of the TV channel said that Trump “has no endless patience to the fact that people are in a pose and playing games”, and that Rubio expressed his “disappointment” by the US president with his statements that the progress of his peaceful efforts is not “like he thought”.
On the same day, Trump confirmed that the United States can get out of peace negotiations with the Russian Federation and Ukraine, if one of the parties for some reason greatly complicates the peaceful settlement.
US Vice-President Jay Di Vance in an interview with Fox News, published on April 30, said that the United States will be engaged in negotiations on the end of the war in Ukraine, launched by the Russian Federation.
