Massive drone attack on Kharkov. Zelenski: “Russia strikes when the Ukrainians sleep their children”

Russia has launched a massive drone attack on Friday night in Kharkov, the second largest city in Ukraine. At least 47 people were injured, after a housing block was hit and fires were triggered, Reuters reports.

Mayor Ihor Terehov announced on Telegram that there were blows in 12 places from four central neighborhoods of the city located 30 km from the northeast border of the country and repeated target of Russian air attacks,

Terehov said a house was also hit. An 11 -year -old child is among the injured. Eight of the injured were treated in the hospital.

Regional governor Oleh Sîniehubov warned that the number of victims could increase.

The pictures posted online showed firefighters fighting with flames, facades of carbonized buildings, with broken windows and cars on flames on the streets full of rubble.

President Volodimir Zelenski has denounced the drone attacks that Russia has intensified in the last two weeks, against the background of negotiations on a fire termination agreement.

He said that dozens of drones were launched and addressed a new call to strengthen Ukraine's air defense capacity. “There were no military targets and could not exist. Russia hits housing when the Ukrainians are in their homes, when they sleep.”Zelenski wrote on Telegram.

“Ukraine needs stronger air defense. Of stronger and more real decisions from our partners: the United States, Europe, all our partners who seek peace”said the Ukrainian leader.

The regional authorities said that four people were also injured in a drone and artillery attack on the localities from the east of Nikopol, in the southeast of the Dnipropetrovsk region.

Russia denies that he deliberately targets civilians, although many thousands have been killed since launching large -scale invasion of his neighbor, in February 2022.
