Doug Emhoff, the husband of the former US vice -president Kamala Harris has applied against Donald Trump at the 2024 US elections, was fired from the Council supervising the Holocaust Museum in the United States, according to The Guardian.

Doug Emhoff was one of 12 people named Biden in January in the Holocaust Memorial Council. On Tuesday, April 29, several people, including Ron Klain, Biden's first chief of office, and Anthony Bernal, the main counselor of former prime ladies, were informed about their dismissal from the Council.

In a statement on X, Emhoff who led the efforts of the Biden administration to combat anti-Semitism confirmed and criticized his dismissal.

“Transforming one of the most serious atrocities in history into a controversial problem is dangerous and dishonor the memory of the six million Jews killed by the Nazis, for whose commemoration this museum was created,” wrote Emhoff, whose great-grandparents fled the persecutions of modern Poland at the beginning of the 19th century.

Usually, the people named by the president usually have a five-year term, according to the museum website. It is not clear how many members of the Council have been dismissed. The Trump administration has not offered a reason for the concentration, but the spokesman of the White House, Karoline Leavitt, told National Public Radio that Trump “is looking forward to appointing new people who will not only continue to honor the memory of those who have died in the Holocaust, but who are also a firm State supporters.”
