The South Korean prosecutor's office announced on Thursday about the prosecutor's former Jun President Jeron Jerol's accusation of abuse of power, “said the Yonhap agency. The special investigating team conducted “an additional investigation into the allegation of abuse of power” in connection with the announcement by Jun's martial law on December 3, 2024, “which led to this additional indictment” – prosecutors informed in a statement.

Earlier in January, prosecutors accused Juna of conspiracy with the former defense minister Kim Jong Hjun and other people in order to conduct an assassination of state through the announcement of “unconstitutional and illegal” martial law, despite the lack of any signs of war, armed conflict or national crisis that could justify his declaration.

Jun, arrested in mid -January, and then released on March 8, corresponds to the court with a free foot. He is threatened with life imprisonment and even the death penalty.

On December 14, 2024, the National Assembly put Juna in the state of accusation, and on April 4 this year. The Constitutional Tribunal unanimously maintained the decision on the impeachment, which led to the removal of it ex officio.

If Jun is found guilty, he will become the third former President of South Korea. convicted of a coup d'état, to a great man and a wu.

Pre -terminal presidential elections will take place in the country on June 3.
