The Territorial Inspectorate of the Border Police (ITPF) Giurgiu informs the drivers that, on May 1, the traffic on the Giurgiu-Ruse friendship bridge, the Bulgaria Directorate, takes place on a single band, alternatively.
“The estimated transit time is approximately:
- 45-60 minutes on the sense of Romania-Bulgaria;
- 10 minutes on the direction of Bulgaria-Romania;
The column of vehicles on the way out of Romania measures about 4 kilometers, and the waiting time is about 60 minutes ”transmits ITPF Giurgiu
Therefore, for the fluidization of the traffic, crews on the field have arrived to direct traffic in the main intersections, and the communication with the Bulgarian authorities is permanently maintained for better coordination of the road flow.
Also during the day of May 1, 2025, a cross -border cyclist was organized, held on the territory of the Russian municipalities (Bulgaria) and Giurgiu (Romania). For the safe crossing of the friendship bridge by the participants in the march, the road traffic was temporarily stopped in both directions, in the range:
- 10:55 am – time to stop traffic
- 11:11 am – Resumption of traffic from Romania to Bulgaria ”ITPF also transmits.
The cyclists are accompanied, on the territory of Bulgaria, by a car crew of the Bulgarian National Police and a vehicle of the organizer. Since the entrance to Romania, they have been taken over by a crew from IPJ Giurgiu – Road Service.

The Territorial Inspectorate of the Giurgiu Border Police recommends the drivers to inform in time about traffic conditions, to show patience and understanding, and – where possible – to consider the use of alternative routes to avoid agglomeration.
