According to the US Diplomacy Ministry, in an interview with Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif Rubio, “Pakistan encouraged to cooperate with India to de -escalate tension, re -establish direct communication and maintaining peace and security in South Asia.” He made the same appeal in an interview with the head of Indian diplomacy Subrahmanyam Jaishankaram.

In an interview with Pakistani Prime Minister Rubio, he emphasized “the need to condemn the terrorist attack of April 22” in the Indian state of Jammu and Kashmir, in which 26 people were killed. In turn, Indiom promised further commitment to a joint fight against terrorism.

The talks occurred against the background of growing tensions between nuclear powers after the assassination of Kashmir. India accused Pakistan of supporting the attack, to which the group called Kashmir confessed. India perceives the group as a cover for a group of fighters, which – as they claim – is supported by the Pakistan army, which also plases the right to the Indian part of Kashmir.

According to the office of the Prime Minister of Pakistan, Sharif said in an interview with Rubio that “he categorically rejects the Indian attempts to connect Pakistan with the incident”, called for “a transparent, neutral and reliable investigation” and encouraged the US to put pressure on India to calm the used rhetoric.

On Wednesday, India announced the closing of their airspace for Pakistan aircraft after Pakistan did the same for Indian aircraft last week. The Pakistani authorities also suspended all trade with India and publishing visas to Indian citizens.
