The death of Virginia Giuffre, the woman who accused Prince Andrew of sexual abuse, leaves behind questions unanswered

Virginia Giuffre was known internationally for the accusations made to Prince Andrew and billionaire Jeffrey Epstein, who accused him of sexually abused when he was only 17 years old.

Her name will always be associated with the scandals and crime around the sexual aggressor billionaire Jeffrey Epstein and his circle, Giuffre being one of his most prominent accusatory, revealing the sexual traffic and exploitation of young women.
The photo with her and Prince Andrew, taken in London in 2001, became emblematic for the king's relationship with Epstein and was at the center of the disastrous interview he gave Newsnight in 2019, writes the BBC.
The origin of photography remains uncertain. But Virginia Giuffre's death adds another layer to the mystery of what she has to have become without wanting one of the most viewed photos in royal history.
Epstein – who took the photo – died in prison, being accused of sexual trafficking.
Ghislaine Maxwell – who helped him abuse young girls and appears in the photo on the right of Prince Andrew and Virginia Giuffre is in prison in the US. Prince Andrew withdrew from all public functions. And Virginia Giuffre, the smiling teenager in the photo, is now dead.
Giuffre, who was born in the US, committed suicide at his western Australia farm at the age of 41, his family announced on Friday.
Prince Andrew has always vehemently denied any offense in which Giuffre was involved.
They reached an extrajudicial understanding in 2022, in which Prince Andrew paid a sum of money that was not revealed.
A statement that accompanied the transaction expressed the regret from it, but contained no recognition of liability or excuses. Prince Andrew has always denied all the charges against him.
The prospect that Prince Andrew was experiencing a hearing before the New York court was avoided by settlement, but it was a huge problem for the royal family, and Prince Andrew was quickly removed from all official public roles.
His reputation never recovered.
At this stage, there are still many things that do not know about the last days of Virginia Giuffre or about her personal circumstances.
But, as his family said, as a young woman, he had the power to oppose a toxic mixture of power, money and privileges in the circle around Epstein, who sexually exploited so many girls.
There will be suspicions that the long shadow of poisonous abuse of wealth and influence of Epstein has made an indirect victim.
