Zelensky said that violations during mobilization in Ukraine are “isolated cases”


Shapiro asked Zelensky how he reacted to messages on the Internet that “people are taken from the streets” to attract to military service. According to the president, each such case is checked by the ground forces of the Armed Forces of Ukraine and the Ministry of Defense of Ukraine, which are responsible for mobilization.

“You can relate to mobilization differently, but we have this mobilization since the beginning of the war. It occurs in accordance with the law, in accordance with the period of martial law. The country is in the war,” Zelensky reminded.

The president also spoke about cases of corruption in the army, with which the relevant law enforcement agencies should fight, but this, according to him, “is not the main thing that Ukraine describes today.”

“Today, 800 thousand or 600 thousand people who voluntarily agreed to join the army. There was a law on mobilization, but people voluntarily went to defend Ukraine,” Zelensky noted.

He added that violations during mobilization are not a mass phenomenon.

“Ukraine clearly shows that it is constantly fighting such aspects, but these are isolated cases. It is not massive, it is more important, and this should be reduced every day,” the president emphasized.

Context

In April 2024 in Ukraine adopted an updated mobilization law that entered V strength on May 18. He, in particular, provides that all military universes, conscripts and reservists aged 18 to 60 should update their military accounting data through centers for the provision of admin services, an electronic office or having come to the TCC and SP.

Against the background of reports on possible violations by the employees of the TCC and SP in the Ukrainian parliament, at the end of January 2025, the bill No. 12442 was registered, which provides for the conclusion for representatives of territorial centers of completion and social support, as well as the military medical commissions for the mobilization of Ukrainians with violations. On February 19, the Committee of the Verkhovna Rada of Ukraine on law enforcement, supported the document, the Rada on March 12 supported it as a basis.

On March 26, the Commissioner of the Verkhovna Rada on Human Rights Dmitry Lubinets said that human rights violations by TCC and SP became systematic and massive.
