Portugal will be represented by both President Marcelo Rebelo de Sousa and Prime Minister Luis Montenegro.
The chairman of the European Commission – Ursula von der Leyen, the European Council – Antonio Costa and the European Parliament – Robert Metsool will also participate in the funeral ceremonies.
In Rome, the King and Queen of Belgians Filip and Matilda, King of Sweden, Charles XVI Gustaw with Queen Sylwia, as well as the King of Spain Filip VI with Queen Letycja will also present in Rome. The successor of the British throne, Prince William and the Norwegian Prince Haakon and Princess Mette-Marit also announced the presence.

Israel will be represented by a lower -level delegation – the Ambassador of the Israel at the Holy See Jaron Sideman will take part in the funeral. Official Israeli institutions in response to the death of the Pope are limited to reproducing the news of President Icchak Hercog. So far, Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu or Foreign Minister Gideon Saar has not referred to the death of the Pope.
However, the Russian leader Vladimir Putin does not intend to go to the funeral, which the Kremlin spokesman Dmitry Pieskov informed about.
The funeral of Pope Francis
Franciszek died on Monday at 7:35 at the age of 88. The cause of death was stroke, coma and irreversible cardiological collapse.
The Pope's funeral ceremonies will start on Saturday at 10 at Saint Peter Square in the Vatican. After the mass, the coffin with the pope's body will be transported to the Basilica of the Larger Mother, where he will be buried according to his will.
