The Ministry of Defense announces, on Tuesday, that the Russian forces attacked again north of the Danube, and four aircraft, two F-16 and two Eurofighter Typhoon, were lifted into the air. According to the MApN, their commanders had approval for “engaging aerial targets if they penetrated the national airspace”, but no unauthorized penetrations were detected.
“On the night of November 3 to 4, the forces of the Russian Federation carried out two attacks on the Ukrainian port infrastructure located on the Danube River. Following these actions, numerous explosions were observed on the Ukrainian shore”, the Ministry of Defense reported.
As a result of the signals detected by the surveillance systems, two F-16 aircraft deployed at the Feteşti Air Base, at 00:17, respectively, two German Eurofighter Typhoon aircraft deployed at the Mihail Kogălniceanu Air Base, at 02:45 a.m. were lifted into the air for research and ensuring the security of the national airspace.
“The commanders of the missions had approval for the engagement of aerial targets, if they penetrated the national airspace and endangered the security of Romanian citizens”, states the MApN.
However, no unauthorized intrusions into Romania's airspace were detected and no remains of aerial vehicles were identified on the national territory, the Romanian Army says.
