On Friday, April 25 in front of the building of the Ministry of Justice in Warsaw there will be a protest of clients of the clients of the Cinkciarz.pl internet currency exchange office. “We want to know why the international arrest warrant has not yet been issued after the owner of the company, Marcin P.,” say the organizers.
Protest under the slogan “Cheated by cinkciarz.pl say enough! Where is our money?! Where is the Polish power?!” It is to take place on Friday, April 25 at 9:00 in front of the building of the Ministry of Justice at Aleje Ujazdowskie 11.
The organizers of the event – Aleksandra and Sebastian Hoekstra – with whom our portal talked, count on the presence of up to several hundred people. The Ministry of Justice responded to their letter and proposed talks. A two -hour meeting with prosecutors from Poznań and Warsaw is planned, who deal with the case of cinkciarza.pl. There is also a chance for the presence of prosecutor general Adam Bodnar or his deputy.
Aleksandra and Sebastian Hoekstra emphasize that the idea of protest was born of a sense of powerlessness. They both belong to the injured by cinkciarz.pl. As they say, their action is a form of opposition to financial scandals that are repeated in Poland. In their opinion, legal instruments insufficiently protect citizens, and the reaction of the PFSA, prosecutor's office and justice is often late and ineffective.
– We have several demands. First of all, we want to draw attention to the neglect of the prosecutor's office, which in our opinion reacted too late in the case of cinkciarz.pl. The PFSA informed her about irregularities on October 2. Despite this, the company's accounts were not blocked for almost two months, allowing the platform to further cheat Poles. We consider it a shameful one – commented Sebastian Hoekstra.
– We also have specific questions that we are waiting for. First of all, we want to know why the international arrest warrant has not yet been issued after the owner of the company Marcin P.. We also care about information on what will happen to secured cryptocurrencies and whether they will be allocated to the repayment of the victims – adds Aleksandra Hoekstra, referring to information about the occupation of 492 Bitcoins belonging to the president of Cinkciarz.pl (at the time of writing this text their course is PLN 171 million).
The source of these reports was the company itself and they have not yet been confirmed by the prosecutor's office. Our editors asked investigators with questions in this matter, asking for confirmation if Bitcoins were actually secured. The prosecutor's office refused to comment, explaining this with the good of the investigation.
On April 22, i.e. three days before the planned protest, a message entitled “Legal situation of clients Cinkciarz.pl – data and facts” appeared on the website of the Ministry of Justice, in which the ministry describes the actions taken and provides statistics regarding civil affairs of the company.
The organizers of the protest believe that the publication time is not accidental and is to be a response to the allegations they formulate regarding insufficient actions taken by the state.
“New people come every day”
The organizers of the protest hope that thanks to their actions we will succeed in a wider sound system of the scandal related to the cinkicarz.pl currency exchange office. In their opinion, the media does not pay her enough attention, as evidenced by the still appearing platform clients who were not aware of its problems.
– New people come every day who had no idea what was happening to the Cinkciarz. The moment came when they wanted to withdraw money or transfer it to another account and only now it reaches them and that this money is gone. New victims are coming all the time. Every day I receive messages from such people – says Aleksandra Hoekstra.
According to the last statement of the Regional Prosecutor's Office in Poznań, almost 2,000 victims of the Cinkciarz.pl platform reported to investigators, and the amount of losses incurred exceeds nearly PLN 50 million.
According to the organizers of the protest who maintain contact with many currency exchange clients, the total number of deceived can increase to up to 10,000 people. Sebastian Hoekstra estimates that losses can be up to PLN 180 million.
According to the last financial report published by Holding Conotoxia, the net loss of the group from previous years reached PLN 191 million by the end of 2023. Taking into account the current situation of the company to which Cinkciarz.pl belonged, we probably will not see its report for 2024. According to the prosecutor's statements, the money secured on the company's accounts does not cover the claims made by its clients.
