The Ministry of Industry is convinced that the GDOŚ environmental decision on the construction of the first nuclear power plant in Pomerania has a solid foundation – the Government Plenipotentiary for Strategic Energy Infrastructure Wojciech Wrochna told PAP. He added that the ministry is calm about the decision of the Provincial Administrative Court in this matter.

“We are convinced that this decision has a solid foundation. She is of course possible to make today, so the appeal that was directed to the court does not suspend the possibility of making this decision and conducting this investment there,” said Biznes in Katowice Wrochna, when asked about the complaint of the Baltic-SOS Association to the decision of GDOŚ.
The representative pointed out that the Ministry of Industry is calm about the decision of the Provincial Administrative Court in this matter.
“We are convinced that this decision has a very solid support and we do not question the right of associations to use every possible legal protection measure, even if we are deeply convinced that it is completely unfounded,” he added.
On April 11, the General Director of Environmental Protection (GDOŚ) submitted to the Provincial Administrative Court in Warsaw a complaint against the decision of GDOŚ of 16 January 2025. The Ministry of Culture and National Heritage informed PAP Biznes that this does not suspend the implementation of the contested decision or suspends the possibility of the investor's investment process.
In January, the General Director of Environmental Protection annulled some of the environmental decision for the construction of the first nuclear power plant in Poland in the area of Choczewa from 2023, and the remaining part upheld it. MKIŚ emphasized that it opens the way to obtaining subsequent permits for EJ.
The design of the first nuclear power plant in Poland is implemented by 100 percent belonging to the State Treasury Polskie Power Plant (PEJ). As a contractor and partner for the first power plant, the previous government indicated the Westinghouse-Bechtel consortium.
The first power plant in the American AP1000 technology is to be built in the Lociatowo-Kopalino location in Pomerania.
According to the updated schedule, the first block of nuclear power plant in Pomerania is to provide electricity to the national power system in 2036.
