“The period from January to March 2025 is another record quarter in a row when it comes to the currency revealed on the border,” said the spokesman of the Tax Administration Chamber in Lublin Michał Deruś on Tuesday.

He stated that the officers of the Lublin Customs and Tax Service in the first quarter of this year detected that travelers did not report the transport of cash with a total value of over PLN 6.5 million. This includes over 760 thousand euro, over 540 thousand dollars, over 740 thousand PLN, over 320 thousand pounds and smaller amounts of cash in other currencies.

For failure to comply with the obligation to submit cash transport, travelers were punished with tickets. The cash transported across the border was most often hidden in traveler's luggage, but also under the seats in cars or under outerwear. In many cases, business dogs, specially trained for searching for cash, helped detect.

The amount of money that has not been carried out through the limit in cash has been increasing for some time.
