Donald Trump, an angry exit to Zelenski, who does not accept the annexation of the Crimean Peninsula: “It was ceded to Russia without a firearm”

US President Donald Trump on Wednesday on Wednesday on Ukrainian leader Volodimir Zelenski after he announced that Ukraine will not recognize the occupation of the Crimea Peninsula, which he has listed as “an incendiary statement”, which will make the conclusion of a peace agreement with Moscow.
“This statement is very harmful to peace negotiations with Russia,” Trump wrote, in a message published on his social network, Social Truth.
The White House leader also stated that the Crimea Peninsula was lost years ago “and it is not even a discussion point.”
Zelenski reiterated on Tuesday that Ukraine will not recognize the peninsula by Russia. “There is nothing to discuss here. This is against our Constitution,” the Ukrainian president insisted.
“No one asks Zelenski to recognize Crimea as a Russian territory, but if he wants Crimea, why didn't they fight for her eleven years ago, when he was taught to Russia without a firearm?” Trump wrote on Wednesday, in his Post on Social Truth.
Trump was arguing with the Ukrainian leader and said that he is trying to stop the crimes in his country and that the negotiators are “very close to an understanding” to put an end to the war.
“The incendiary statements like Zelenski's are the ones that make this war so difficult. He has nothing to boast!”, Trump said, resuming the rough tone he used in the public confrontation in the Oval Office with Zelenski in March.
Trump's full posting:
- “Ukrainian President Volodimir Zelenski praises on the first page of Wall Street Journal that: «Ukraine will not legally recognize Crimea. There is nothing to discuss here ». This statement is very harmful to peace negotiations with Russia, because Crimea was lost years ago, under the auspices of President Barack Hussein Obama, and not even a discussion point. No one asks Zelenski to recognize Crimea as a Russian territory, but if he wants Crimea, why didn't they fight for her eleven years ago, when he was ceded to Russia without a firearm? Also, the area has been hosting, for many years, before being “taught by Obama”, important Russian submarine bases. Incendiary statements as Zelenski make it so difficult to solve this war. He has nothing to boast about! The situation of Ukraine is serious – it can have peace or it can fight for another three years before losing the whole country. I have nothing to do with Russia, but I have a lot to do with the desire to save, on average, five thousand Russian and Ukrainian soldiers per week, who die for no reason. The statement made today by Zelenski will do nothing but extend the “killer battlefield”, and no one wants this! We are very close to an agreement, but the man who “has no books to play” should now accept (Trump's underline, no). I look forward to helping Ukraine and Russia to get out of this full and total mess that would never have started if I was president!“
Trump's reaction also seems to come in the context of information that a US peace plan includes Washington's official recognition of illegal annexation of Crimea Peninsilea by Moscow.
On Wednesday, April 23, US Vice -President JD Vance warned that Washington may give up efforts to intermediate an armistice in Ukraine if Moscow and Kiev do not agree with the terms currently in question. “I made a very explicit proposal to both Russians and Ukrainians, and it is time for them to say” yes “or that the United States will withdraw from this process,” Vance told reporters during a four -day visit to India.
The claims of JD Vance, similar to some previously issued by President Donald Trump, came on the day when top diplomats in the US and Europe did not show up to a new round of peace in Ukraine in London.
“I think the time has come to make, if not the final step, one of the final steps – namely, at a general level, the parties to say that we will stop the crimes, that we will freeze the territorial lines at a level close to the one in which it is today,” said Vance.
JD Vance, ultimatum for Ukraine and Russia: “It's time to say yes”
He acknowledged that the plan would require both Russia and Ukraine “to give up some of the territory they currently own.”
Previously, the US publication Axios reported that US Secretary of State, Marco Rubio, and Trump's special envoy, Steve Witkoff, have withdrawn from Wednesday's discussions after Ukraine said he wants to focus on a 30-day fire, rather than a larger Frame.
This framework, according to Axios, includes the US recognition of Crimea annexation by Russia, the de facto recognition of Moscow control over four other partially occupied Ukrainian regions, the reduction of sanctions and the promise of a future economic cooperation.
Axios noted that the security guarantees proposed for Ukraine remain vague.
Kiev insisted that he will not recognize Crimea as a Russian territory
Ukrainian Deputy Prime Minister Iulia Sviridenko reaffirmed on Wednesday, on the day when meetings were to be held in a possible cessation of fire between the Ukrainian government, European partners of Ukraine and the United States, that Ukraine will not recognize Crimea Peninsula as Russia, EFE and Agerpres have reported.
“We will never recognize the occupation on Crimea,” Sviridenko said on his X account, referring to one of the conditions that the US would intend to impose Ukraine to put an end to the war.
Ukraine is ready to negotiate, not to surrender, says the Ukrainian Deputy Prime Minister. “The people will not accept a frozen conflict disguised in peace”
Sviridenko also said that Ukraine will ask for security guarantees if it is not offered the opportunity to join NATO, which has already been excluded by the US.
She repeated that “the first necessary step” towards peace is “a cessation of fire on land, in the air and the sea.”
“There will be no agreement to offer Russia the stronger bases it needs to regroup and return with more violence,” added the Ukrainian Vicrepremaker.
“Our people will not accept a frozen conflict disguised in peace,” she insisted.
