The Catholic world plunged into mourning after the death of the Pope, who died at the age of 88 in the Vatican. The Holy Father, who was born in Buenos Aires as Jorge Mario Bergoglio, left on the morning of April 21, 2025. According to his last will, he will rest in a modest grave in the Roman papal basilica of Our Lady of Our Lady.
“My grave should be in the ground, simple, without a special decoration, with the only inscription: Franciscus. The costs of preparing my burial will be covered from the amount from the benefactor, which I allocated for this purpose and which should be handed over to the papal basilica of Our Lady of Our Lady,” reads Francis in the last will.

He also did not live in the Apostolic Palace, only at the House of St. Marty. In addition, he did not choose a new golden ring and cross, and he sold the Motor Harley Davidson to him, then donating the money for charity. The costs of his papal service amounted to approx. 100,000 hole. annually.
What's more, Franciszek resigned from collecting a papal salary, which was 32 thousand. dol., or approx. 120 thousand PLN, monthly. The Vatican confirmed that as a bishop he also gave up his salary from the Church. According to the Economical Times, at the time of death, the estimated net value of papal property was $ 16 million. (approx. PLN 60 million). Its part of it was five cars, and in addition to the Apostolic Palace, also the summer residence of Castel Gandolfo and the Papal Palace in Avignon.

The accumulated property resulted, among others with royalties, donations and annual discretionary funds, which he received as the head of the church. According to the Vatican sources, including Cardinal Kevin Farrell, Francis allocated some of the funds accumulated for philanthropic purposes and actions related to the Church. In his last will, the Pope did not write who and how to have the property after his death.
