Vadim Klyuchnik
Saint Vadim, whose memory is celebrated on this day, was an archimandrite in Persia in the 4th century. On the day of Vadim, nicknamed the Key, people went to the sources (keys), cleaned them and sentenced them: “Underground water, we’ll wash your paths of a heavy one.” After that, they took water from the springs, washed it and drank it – it was believed that it would strengthen health.
Also, the sources were wondering about the death and life of sick people. When they went to the key for water, they didn’t talk to anyone, but when they arrived, they prayed on all four sides and asked about a person: for living or dead? If a long life was coming to the ridiculous, the water was supposed to stand bright, like a glass. If the patient expected the death, the keys could be greatly boiling.
On Vadim Klyniknik, livestock over the meadows also began, where fresh grass had already grown enough.
