The investment is carried out as part of the modernization of the electronic barrier on the section of the land border with Belarus – Juźwiak said.

The electronic barrier is a system of cameras and sensors that helps to monitor the border, works along the entire border line in Podlasie, it complements the set steel dam, it was also mounted along the border rivers. The monitoring center of this system is located at the headquarters of the Podlasie Border Guard Department in Bialystok.

Five observation towers are to be built until December, their assembly has already begun – said Juźwiak. The cost of the entire investment is about PLN 47 million, and the towers will stand along the border with Belarus in Podlasie, where SG already has eight similar towers.

The facilities will be built in designated locations. According to Juźwiak, the places have been precisely selected using unmanned aerial vehicles. “The selection of these places was preceded by a thorough analysis taking into account, among others, the conditions of the area, legal status of real estate, potential scope of observation and distribution of towers relative to each other so as to cover the area as much as possible” – he added. This is to enable the proper use of long -range equipment, as well as conduct a large -scale observation of the border zone.

On 70-meter towers, advanced optoelectronic devices for observation, various types of camera will be installed. It will also be no night obstacle lighting – according to the SG spokesman – lamps glowing from dusk to dawn in red at an altitude of about 40 and 70 meters (this is due to the provisions on aviation obstacles).

SG plans to set towers on the river sections of the border. As announced in March during the Sejm Administration and Interior Commission, the Chief of SG Robert Bagan, including for the rivers Świsłocz and Istoczanka.

The second SG investment, which is to be built by the end of the year, is the reconstruction of the technical road along the dam – an asphalt road is to be built. Juźwiak told PAP that the reconstruction of the road “results from the need to increase mobility and the possibility of faster, more efficient movement of patrols operating in this area.” He added that it is also about the durability of the road and adaptation to the movement of military vehicles on it. He also stated that the contractor of this investment has not yet been chosen, the project was currently underway.

The Podlasie branch of the SG is responsible for the protection of 247 km of border with Belarus; This whole section of the border is monitoring. At 186 km of this line line, the so -called A physical barrier (dam) with a height of 5.5 m, and its complement is the electronic barrier, which also includes, among others Świsłocz and Istoczanka rivers. Thanks to the last investments, the steel and electronic dam have been modernized and strengthened.

Since mid -June 2024, the so -called The buffer zone, which was introduced on the basis of the Ministry of Interior and Administration. For the third time (from March 10 this year) it was extended for another 90 days, as well as extended and currently covers the length of the border over a section of 78.29 km in the Hajnów poviat and part of the Białystok poviat. It is about the area of operation of the SG branches in Michałów, Narewka, Białowieża, and Dubiczs of Cerkiewne and Czereze.

At nearly 60 km of border, you must not stay in a belt 200 meters wide from the border line, over a section of over 15 kilometers located in the area of nature reserves, the PAS is about 2 km wide, and on a section of nearly 3.8 km the width of the zone is about 4 km.

The Ministry of Interior and Administration in the extending regulation assessed that the “buffer zone works”, the number of attempts at illegally crossing the border by approx. 46 percent. compared to the same period from the introduction of the zone. According to the ministry, the buffer affects the safety of services on the border, and also limits the activity of smuggling groups.

Safe Podlasie surgery is also conducted in Podlasie. As part of it, the army and police support the border guard on the border.

Deputy Head of the Ministry of Interior and Administration: From the beginning of the year we have detained 80 smugglers to the Polish-Belarusian border

Last year, we stopped about 596 smugglers. This year, until April 6, 80 smugglers. Most often they are people from former post -Soviet countries – said the deputy head of the Ministry of Interior and Administration Wiesław Szczepański on Friday.

Deputy Minister of Interior and Administration, Wiesław Szczepański, in an interview with Polish Radio 24, drew attention to the activities of smugglers on the Polish-Belarusian border.

“As I remember correctly, we almost stopped 596 last year. I could be mistaken for two or three people. This year, until April 6, 80” – he noted. He estimated that both the buffer zone and the limitation of the right to submit applications for international protection make these smugglers less.

Szczepański announced that people who most often conduct this illegal practice in the form of smuggling and transporting migrants are Ukrainians and Belarusians. Georgians and Poles also appear. “These are people primarily from former post -Soviet countries,” he explained.

Referring to the issue of attempts to illegally cross the Polish-Belarusian border, he announced that from the beginning of the year to April 6 such activities were taken by over 4.7 thousand. people. He added – it is 12 percent. less than last year.

However, the arrival of spring and warming caused that there are more and more of these attempts. Szczepański reminded that the corpse of a person who drowned in the Bug River was fished on April 5. As he assessed, this is the result of the actions of the services on the other side of the border that “drive” the migrants into the water so that they would be forced to cross the river border.

The next two bodies were found by SG officers and WOT soldiers on Tuesday, April 15. The bodies found near the town of Stary Bubel (Lublin) were largely located and the prosecutor's decision will be subjected to the section.

At the end of March, a regulation on the temporary limitation of the right to submit an application for international protection entered into force. Limiting the right to asylum will apply for 60 days. The limitation period will be able to be extended for another – not longer than 60 days – the period, after consent by the Sejm.

On 186 km of border with Belarus, it is built in 2022 – a 5.5 m steel dam. It is the main element of securing this border against illegal migration. It is complemented by the so -called The electronic barrier, which includes the dam, as well as river sections. Last year, both dams were modernized. Additional horizontal spans were installed on Stalowa, as well as conscertine coils.

From June 13, 2024, there is a buffer zone on the Podlasie section of the Polish-Belarusian border, which was introduced on the basis of the Ministry of Interior and Administration. It was once again extended on March 10 for 90 days. At nearly 60 km of border, you must not stay in a belt 200 meters wide from the border line, on a section of over 15 km located in the area of nature reserves, the PAS is about 2 km wide, and on a section of nearly 3.8 km the width of the zone is about 4 km.

The crisis on the Polish border has been going on since 2021 and is caused by the organized metastasis of immigrants and refugees to the European Union, including from Iraq, Afghanistan and with other Middle East and Africa across the Belarusian-Lithuanian border as well as Belarusian-Polish and Belarusian-Latvian. The crisis began when the Belarusian authorities launched migrant metastasis channels. (PAP)
