Agnieszka Dziemianowicz-Bąk, the minister of family, work and social policy, took part in the Tuesday panel “Challenges for work in Europe-Panel of Ministers” during the European Forum of New Ideas.

She drew attention to the changes taking place on the labor market and the challenges faced by Poland and the European Union. The first is technological progress with particular emphasis on the development of artificial intelligence and its impact on work.

“We know that by 2030 nearly 40 % of the skills held by European employees will become useless. But there will be a huge and growing demand for new competitions, new skills, for issues related to cyber security or with innovative technologies,” she mentioned. She added that this is both an opportunity and a threat.

The second challenge she pointed to is demographics and an aging society. As an example, she gave Poland, where in the last 10 years two million seniors and seniors came. According to her, the labor market should be transformed in cooperation with employers so that people in retirement age want and can remain professionally active as long as possible.

As she explained, it must be borne in mind that the elderly are getting tired faster, they may get sick more often and it is necessary to adapt issues related to working time and with health care conditions.

“There is nothing to pretend that a sixty -year -old employee or employee will have exactly the same features and the same possibilities as the twenty -compatriot, but there are also the same experience and knowledge, only much greater.

She pointed out that the third challenge, which often appears during conversations at European level, is competitive or “a new model of European competitiveness”, which, as she assessed, must be a competitiveness based on quality.

“When it is discussed by barriers, restrictions on competitiveness, it is clear that it is indicated on reloading with bureaucracy, excessive regulation, but any analysis of the development of competitiveness should also contain elements of the assessment of competitive advantages, competitive potentials and quality” – emphasized the minister.

At the same time, she mentioned the quality of employment, employee protection, consumer protection and standards.

On Tuesday, EFNI Spring 2025 began – a special two -day edition of the European Forum of New Ideas, dedicated to the future of the labor market. Among this year's guests was, among others Prime Minister Donald Tusk, family minister, work and social policy Agnieszka Dziemianowicz-Bąk and the Minister of Education Barbara Nowacka. The event is organized by the Lewiatan Confederation.
