Piedone receives the authority to fine the energy and gas suppliers substantially fine

The National Authority for Consumer Protection (ANPC), headed by Cristian Popescu-Piedone, introduces a proportional sanction procedure of deviations committed by supplier of electricity and natural gas, with fines related to the annual turnover.

The argument – the new procedure is meant to strengthen the application of contraventional sanctions, especially in the essential sectors for consumers, such as energy, and to ensure a unitary framework for evaluating the severity of the facts.
