“(…) 2024 he was the third in a row, when our central bank recorded a powerful loss. According to Business Insider Polska's findings, it reached about PLN 13.4 billion, “says the portal. As BI points out,
At the end of last year, the Central Bank in the financial plan predicted that last 2024 it would end under a line, but at the level of PLN 7.4 billion. Ultimately, a negative result turned out to be nearly twice as large.

The loss of the NBP means that no money will go to the state budget again. According to the regulations, if the NBP would record profit, then 95 percent This amount should be sent to the state coffers.

This time, information from the NBP is not a special worry for the Ministry of Finance, because Andrzej Domański, preparing the budget for 2025, did not set any money from the central bank.

It is worth recalling what the main analyst Bankier.pl wrote Krzysztof Kolan: “In the case of central banks, accounting losses are basically only a financial curiosity.”

“Although central banks prepare the same financial statements as commercial banks or non -financial enterprises, the interpretation of their results is different. First of all, both losses and profits are largely the results of accounting operations and do not translate into streams of generated cash. Anyway, the last central bankers produce themselves, after printing and paper. cash (i.e. coins and banknotes) is the main source of actual profits of central banks.
