Like us, no one. 9 of the 16 teams in Superliga have no right to play in European Cups

The Romanian football has recovered in recent years, but the unique situations have not disappeared completely. In the Romanian Cup I witnessed a special case, in February, when two teams – Hermannstadt and Poli Iași – were forced to play a dam match for qualifying in quarters, because in the regulation there were not enough separation criteria to find the group winner. Even in the Superliga things are not quite right, considering that 9 of the 16 teams participating in the competition are not allowed to evolve in the next edition of the European Cups. This means that only 7 bands fight on 4 UEFA seats.

Normally, the winner of the championship goes to the preliminaries of the Champions League, the one of the Cup qualifies in the Europa League, and the 2nd place in Superliga starts in Conference League. For the second place in the last competition, the 3rd place in the play-off plays a qualifying match with the winner of the dam between positions 1 and 2 in the play-out. Things seem simple and clear at first sight, but they are over the situation in which many of the teams in the first league are.
Of the play-out, only Sepsi and Lighthouse can play in Europe
In the play-out of the Superligii, out of the 10 participants, only two teams-Farul and Sepsi-filed their file for the UEFA licensing and could dispute the Dam for Conference League, writes gsp.ro. The irony of fate, before this stage, both formations were on dam places to avoid relegation. Only the Covasnens remained in the red area, the lighthouse managing to “escape” after crushing Sepsi, on Saturday, at Sfântu Gheorghe (4-1).
The two bands that can dispute the league league barrage must finish between the first 4 in order to do so. If none succeeds, then the play-off team will no longer play the dam and go to Conference League. If one of Sepsi and the Lighthouse ranks on 1-4 places, and the other does not, then play directly dam with the team on the 3rd place in the play-off, the winner will evolve in the league league.
Hermannstadt can overhead all calculations
However, the situation can be complicated even more, because Romanian football is always full of surprises, if Hermannstadt will win the Romanian Cup (the semifinals are Hermannstadt – Rapid and Lighthouse – CFR Cluj). The Sibiu do not have a license of the European cups, being insolvent, so the place in the Europa League will be taken by a band-off (not the finalist). In this case, the places in the European Cups would be divided as follows: 1 – in the Champions League, 2 – in the Europa League, 3 – in Conference League and 4 – in the Dam for Conference League. And if Dinamo – also without UEFA license – will be ranked on one of these positions, then the 5th place will play in the Dam for Conference League (if he has with whom).

* According to gsp.ro.
Of the 16 teams in Superiliga, some have submitted their file for the UEFA license, others preferred to opt for licensing in the championship, and others cannot participate in the European Cups for financial reasons, either in insolvency or in preventive agreement. The last term represents a legal procedure by which a company in financial difficulty, but which is not yet insolvency, can request protection from creditors to reorganize their activity and avoid bankruptcy.
