The meanings of the days of the big week

The day of Monday brings us to the icon of the young Joseph who was sold by his brothers in Egypt. The story of his life in the liturgical cult is the anticipation of the Savior Jesus Christ's sacrifice, which was sold by Judah.

Tuesday

On Tuesday, the commemoration of the 30 virgin's parable takes place. The great Tuesday of the Passover Week, also called Tuesday dry. This is the day when Jesus Christ told his 12 disciples for example the 10 virgins, who present the story of five “wise” and five “misunderstood” virgins who are preparing for the wedding.

Wednesday

Also a remembrance is made in the Wednesday of the Passover Week, that of the sinful woman who washed with tears and anointed with the feet of the Savior, a symbol of true repentance and of the straightening of the sinful man.

Thursday

On Thursday, the job reminds of four special events in the life of the Savior: washing the feet of the disciples, as a parable of humility; The Last Supper, to which the Savior instituted the mystery of the Holy Eucharist; Archdiocese prayer; the beginning of the sufferings, by the sale of the Lord.

Friday

On Friday, “the Holy and Savior and Farling Passions of the Lord and God and Savior Jesus Christ are celebrated.” Good Friday represents the day when Jesus died on the cross.

Saturday

At the job of the Sabbath of the passions, the burial of the Savior Jesus Christ is celebrated. At midnight, the believers listen to the churches, the resurrection service, to which the light is received and the news that Christ has risen.

Resurrection Holiday – first Easter day

The Easter holiday is celebrated at a different date every year, and the exact calculation of the day when the Resurrection of the Lord is made according to two natural phenomena: the spring and full moon equinox. This year the Orthodox Easter and Catholic Easter, as well as the flowers, fall the same day. The last time the Orthodox and Catholics celebrated Easter on the same day was in 2017.
