Minimum wage in 2025. How does Poland fall on the background of the EU?

Minimum wage applies in 22 of 27 EU countries. Exceptions are dishes, Italy, Austria, Finland and Sweden.
According to data from January 2025, in 10 EU countries, the minimum wage was below 1000 euros per month:
– Bulgaria (551 euros);
– Hungary (707 euros);
– Latvia (740 euros);
– Romania (814 euros);
– Slovakia (816 euros);
– Czech Republic (826 euros);
– Estonia (886 euros);
– Malta (961 euros);
– Greece (968 euros);
– Croatia (970 euros).

In six other countries, the minimum wage ranged from 1000 to 1500 euros per month:
– Cyprus (1000 euros);
– Portugal (1015 euros);
– Lithuania (1038 euros);
– Poland (1091 euros);
– Slovenia (1278 euros);
– Spain (1381 euros).
In the remaining six countries, the minimum wage exceeded EUR 1,500 per month:
– France (1802 euros);
– Belgium (2070 euros),
– Germany (2161 euros),
– Netherlands (2193 euros),
– Ireland (2282 euros)
—Luxembourg (2638 euros).
Minimum wages in the EU and prices
The data show that the highest minimum wage in EU countries was 4.8 times lower than the lowest. However, the differences in the minimum wages in different countries are much smaller when the differences in the price level are taken into account.
Expressed in the purchasing power standard (PPS) Minimum wages in EU countries minimal wages ranged from 878 PPS per month in Estonia to 1992 PPS in Germanywhich means that the highest minimum wage was 2.3 times higher than the lowest.
If we express the lowest national in PPS, then Poland will advance from 9 to the 7th place in the ranking of 22 EU countries:
